Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve

Ich besuchte diesen eigentlich schoenen Park im April 2009. Ich sage “eigentlich”, weil sich leider die Mohnblumen nicht mehr ganz zeigten. Alles ist ausgetrocknet. Allerdings liess ich mich nicht davon abhalten, trotzdem hinzufahren. Denn vom 25. bis 26. April 2009 veranstaltet die Stadt Lancaster das jaehrliche “Poppy Festival”. Ich wollte somit beides miteinander verbinden und ich kann sagen, fuer mich hat es sich gelohnt.
Auf den Weg zum Park sah man bereits einige Mohnblumen in orange und gelb frohlocken.
Am Park gegen 9 Uhr angekommen, zahlte ich meinen Obolus von $ 5.

I have visited this usually beautiful Park by end of April 2009. I say usually because the poppies do not really bloom any longer. It is kinda off season already. Everything is dried out. Luckily, I found some poppies on the way to the park as well within it. It was very windy, but it got warm around 9.30 a.m. Bugs and grashopper where all over the park. I arrived at the park at around 9 a.m., paid the $ 5 parking fee.

Ich laufe die restliche Meile zum Antelope Butt Vista Point. / I am walking up to the Antelope Butt Vista Point (about one mile).

Ich brauchte fuer die ganze Wanderung etwas ueber 2 Stunden. Obwohl so gut wie alles ausgetrocknet war, hat sich der Trip in den Park gelohnt.
Hiking the east part of the park took me about 2 hours. Though everything was dried out, I think that the trip was worth it.
