The statue of the bitch "Balto", dedicated to sled dogs from 1935 (winter). The sledgehounds, led by the Balto bitch, had to take the diphtheria vaccine in Alaska, to the Nomeana railway station from Nurna, Nomeana. Many people saved their lives, so that they set a monument to this animal heroic act in Central Park.

The High Line
You can enjoy a nice, but mostly a bit crowded walk, on the High Line. The walk leads you along the former rails. The High Line was built in 1930s. They built it 30 feet high in order to remove dangerous trains from the streets. The High Line was then not in use any longer since 1980. In 1999, the community based non-profit group called Friends of the High Line, started to preserve the High Line and kept it from demolition. Today, it is enjoyed by the public (for free).
Along the walk you have a good view to both sides, seeing not so many special things to be honest. On the High Line you can still see parts of the rails halfway covered by grass and surrounded by trees. You can also spot some art along the walk. If you get tired or wanna stick at a point a bit longer, you can enjoy the benches and art or get a coffee or something to eat. The High Line has 9 entrances/exits.
