Ca. 2.5 Meilen entfernt von Flagstaff auf Route 66 komme ich am „Woody Mountain Campground“ vorbei; 2727 W Route 66, Flagstaff, AZ 86001, Tel. 928-774-7727, von 1952.
www.woodymountaincampground.com. Es regnet stark, sodass ich den Wagen nicht verlasse. Ich mache nur schnell ein Foto von dem Baeren, der ein Route 66 Schild vor sich haelt. Dieser Baer wurde aus einem hier rumliegenden grossen totem Holz geschnitzt.
Just 2.5 miles after Flagstaff, I found the “Woody Mountain Campgroun”, 1952, 2727 W. Route 66, Flagstaff, AZ, 86001, Tel. 928-774-7727, www.woodymountaincampground.com.  As it is raining stronly, I do not leave the car. I just made some pics and left. The wooden bear was hand carved from a dead tree laying around here at the Campground.

Von der Historic US 66 fahre ich dann auf die I 40 Purple Heart Trail, Exit 191.
Ich bekomme Heimweh als ich die Schilder nach Los Angeles sehe. 140 West Los Angeles, 487 Meilen. Ich waere am liebsten direkt nach LA zurueckgefahren, aber ich muss noch etwas durchhalten und die Route 66 zu Ende bringen.
Ich fahre bis ca. Exit 185 wo es ein Ghosttown gibt BELLEMONT.
I am driving from Historic US 66 on I 40 Purple Heart Trail, Exit 191.
I am feeling home sick when I saw the signs to Los Angeles... 140 West Los Angeles, 487 Miles. I wished I could just drive through to Los Angeles, but I have to end my Route 66 trip.
I am driving till about Exit 185 where there is a ghosttown BELLEMONT.

Ich mache einen Stopp bei „Harley Davidson Shop“, Exit 185 bei BELLEMONT, Arizona. Kurz vor dem Shop finde ich einen „Baum“ zusammengebastelt aus Harley Davidson Auspuffen.
Stopp at the “Harley Davidson Shop”, Exit 185 at BELLEMONT, Arizona. Just before that I found a “tree” which holds Harley Davidson exhaust pipes.

Das dazugehoerige „Roadhouse – Bar & Grill“ schmueckt sich mit Route 66 Emblem, aber ich kann nicht sagen, dass es wirklich zur Route 66 Attraktion gehoert. Dieses Geschaeft und auch die Bar, wurden nicht offiziell in die Roadside Attraction der Route 66 aufgenommen was zu erkennen ist durch ein Hinweissschild meist direkt am Gebaeude befestigt. Immerhin besteht das Gebaeude nicht seit den 20igern oder 30iger Jahre.
The “Roadhouse - Bar & Grill” next to it uses the Route 66 emblem. That Roadhouse should not be one of the real historic Route 66 remains.

Danach suchte ich das Gebaeude „Pine Breeze Inn“ auf, was im Film „Easy Rider“ 1969 zu sehen ist. Das Gebaeude befindet sich ca. 1 Meile vom Harley Davidson Shop entfernt. Kurz danach endet die Strasse, sodass man wieder zurueck zur I 40 fahren muss.
Afterwards I was looking for the building “Pine Breeze Inn” which was seen in the 1969 movie “Easy Rider”. This building is situated about one mile away from the Harley Davidson Shop. The street ends just after that building. I turned around and went back on I 40.

End of Route 66 in Bellmont

Auf Hoehe Exit 178 der I 40 soll sich der hoechste Punkt (7320 feet) der Route 66 befinden namens „49 Hill“. Ich kann es jedenfalls nicht ausfindig machen. Sowas wird leider nicht mit einem Schild angezeigt.
I was supposed to find on the level of Exit 178 I 40 the highest point on Route 66 the “49 Hill”, 7320 feet. I could not really find it.

Wenn man bei Exit 178 noerdlich die Brannigan Park Road nimmt, ist dies die Route aus dem Jahr 1931. Ist aber nicht gut zu befahren. Die Strasse fuehrt weiter durch Parks und wird zur E. Parks Road. Dies alles ist die urspruengliche Route 66. Die Route 66 geht weiter ueber E. Old Hwy 66, die kurz zur Parks-Wagon Wheel Road wird und auch E. Parks Road und E. Old Hwy 66. Diese Strasse hat somit mehrere Namen, ca. 5 an der Zahl.
If you take Exit 178 north on Brannigan Park Road, you will drive on the Route from 1931. This one is not drivable. Street is in a bad shape. It goes through the park and becomes E. Parks Road. This is the original Route 66. It goes then furhter on E. Old Hwy 66, then Park-Wagon Wheel Road which becomes E. Parks Road and E. Old Hwy 66. This street got so many names, about 5... It is hard to keep up

“Pittman Wagonwheel Ranch” the “old Wagon Wheel Lodge”, 1930s, in Pittman Valley.
It is a private residence now. Formerly the the lodge offered cabins and gas. It was also known as a Roadhouse with the reputation as brothel during World War II.

Bei Exit 171 der I 40 wird die Strasse dann zur E. Deer Farm Road, die gleich wieder den Namen aendert in Aunt Marys Road. Bei Pipeline Easement Road fahre ich links ab auf Forest Service Road unter der I 40 entlang und dann rechts ab auf Mountain Man Trail, welche Route 66 von 1926 bis 1931 war. Von Mountain Man Trail geht es etwas zick-zack-artig in die Historic Route 66 ueber. Hierzu faehrt man ueber die Bahnschienen (rechts waee BNSF RR Frontage Road, ein paar Meter noerdlich ist die I 40 Purple Heart Trail, Exit 165). Diese Strecke fuehrt einen direkt in die Stadt
WILLIAMS. Kurz zuvor sieht man zu seiner rechten einen alten Eisenbahnwaggon auf dem „Grand Canyon“ (silber-metallic) steht.
The street turns into E. Deer Farm Road at exit 171 I 40. That streets becomes right away Aunt Marys Road. At Pipeline Easement Road I turn left on Forest Service Road which goes under I 40 and then turning right on Mountain Man Trail which was Route 66 from 1926 to 1931. It goes zig zag then from Mountain Man Trail into Historic Route 66. On the way to it you will also drive over rail tracks (on the right would be BNSF RR Frontage Road, a few meters north is I 40 Purple Heart Trail, Exit 165). This route leads you directly into the town of WILLIAMS. Just before I saw to the right an old railcar “Grand Canyon”

Die Stadt WILLIAMS ist voll von Route 66 Attraktionen. Es lohnt sich, durch die ganze Stadt zu fahren und zu laufen, denn gross ist diese ja nicht gerade.
The town of WILLIAMS offers lots of Route 66 sites. It is worth it to stay here a while and explore it.

Hier gibts neben gutem Essen auch Bier “Grand Canyon Brewery” was folgende Biere (Premium Micro-Brews) beinhaltet: Williams Wheat, Sunset Amber Ale, Oastmeal Stout, Pale Ale, Raspberry Wheat, Seasonal Brew. Diese Biere werden direkt hinter dem Diner gebraut.
Besides nice food they offer beer from the “Grand Canyon Brewery” which have beer (Premium Micro-Brews) of Williams Weaht, Sunset Amber Ale, Oastmeal Stou, Pale Ale, Raspberry Wheat, Seasonal Brew. The brewery is just behind the Diner.

Das Neonschild wurde in einem Feuer beschaeftigt. Das nebenstehende Gebaeude wurde in 2005 niedergebrannt.
The neon sign was damaged by a fire. The building next to it was totally destroyed by the fire in 2005.

“Twister’s 50’s Soda Fountain”, 417 E. Route 66, Williams, formerly the Choo-Choo Cahrley’s.

“Canyon Club Bar”, 132 Railroad Ave., Williams. Next door building was burned down in 2005. The Club survived luckily.
