Das spanische Wort “Descanso” bedeutet Erholung. Descanso Gardens wird als die kleinere Version von dem in der Naehe liegenden “Huntington Library & Gardens” angesehen. Allerdings gibt es hier neben einigen Gaerten Waldstuecke, in denen man etwas hineinwandern kann.
In 1937 kaufte E. Manchester Boddy, Verleger des “Los Angeles Daily News”, das 64 Hektar Land auf dem sich nun Descansos Gardens befindet.
Hier befindet sich ein Museum, ein Geschaeft, ein Restaurant, Rosengarten (wunderschoen), japanischer Garten, eine Tram, die allerdings US $ 3/pP kostet, ein nicht so toll angelegter See, Waelder etc.

The spanish word “Descanso” stays for recovery. You can see “Descanso Gardens” as the smaller version to the nearby “Huntingont Library & Gardens”. But here you will find besides the gardens also parts considered as wood where you can have a nice walk.
E. Manchester Boddy a publisher of the “Los Angeles Daily News” bought 64 hectare of land on which you stand today and is called Descansos Gardens. You will also find here a museum, a shop, a restaurant, a rosen garden (very nice when it is blooming), a japanese garden, you can drive the tram which costs USD 3 per person, a small lake, woods etc.
