Weiter geht es durch den Market mit Ausgang zu Hill Street, laufe links und auf der gegenueberliegenden Seite ist das historische “Angels Flight”.
Go through the market and exit on Hill Street. Go left and you will see on the opposite site “Angels Flight”.

Eroeffnet 1901 und ist die kuerzeste Zugverbindung der Welt. Opened in 1901 and is the “shortest railway in the world”.

Angels Flight wurde am 1. Februar 2001 geschlossen aufgrund eines Unfalls. Eines der Zuege loeste sich und prallte in ein Auto und toete eine 83-jaehrigen Holocaust Ueberlebenden und verletzte seine 80-jaehrige Frau sowie 7 weitere Personen.
Angels Flight was closed on February 1, 2001 due to an accident. One cart got loose and smashed into a car and killed a 83 year old Holocaust survivor and injured his 80 year old wife and 7 other persons.

3.5 Millionen Dollar wurden an Spenden aufgebracht, um Angels Flight zu reparieren.
3.5 Mio. USD were raised for repairment and upgrade of the Angels Flight.
Angels Flight wurde nach 9 Jahren am 15. Maerz 2010 wiedereroeffnet. Die Fahrt dauert keine Minute und kostet 25 Cent. Das Ticket wird oben an der Station gekauft. Angebot: 5 Rides fuer 1 Dollar.
Angels Flight was reopened after 9 years on March 15, 2010. The not even one minute ride costs 25 cent which is paid up on the hill. Offer: 5 rides for one dollar.
Geoffnet taeglich von 6.45 Uhr bis 22 Uhr. Open from 6.45 am till 10 pm. daily.

Weiter geht es vom Angels Flight oben auf dem Huegel links entlang an den Wolkenkratzern vorbei durch “Watercourt at California Plaza”. Hier kann man sich ausruhen und etwas Essen wenn man es nicht schon am Central Market gemacht hat.
The walk goes further after the top of the hill between the skyscrapers walking through the “Watercourt at California Plaza”. Here you can enjoy a rest and have some food if not already at the central market.

Die Strasse auf der man sich befindet und die Strassen links und rechts davon formen ein Trio von Strassen welche genannt werden “Faith”, “Hope” und “Charity”. Die “Hope Street overpass” an der 4th Street eroeffnet einem Perspektiven von Bunker Hill: Die Skyline von Buerogebaeude, Fussgaenger und Boten auf Fahrraedern.

Dieser Uebergang hoch ueber Flower Street verbindet “Ketchum Y” mit den Tuermen vom Westin Bonaventure Hotel (von John Portman, 1974-76).
Take the walkway high above Flower Street which connects Ketchum Y with the towers of the Westin Bonaventure Hotel (designed by John Portman, 1974-76, 404 S. Figueroa Street).

Das Hotel war Schauplatz in mehreren Filmen wie im Clint Eastwood Film “In the line of Fire” wo er mit seinem Pferd den Aufzug hochfaehrt.
The Hotel was in several movies such as in the Clint Eastwood movie “In the Line of Fire” where he uses the elevator with riding his horse.

Die “Bona vista bar” (dreht sich alle 30 minuten) bietet eine Bar und ein gutes Steak House.    back to index

Schauplatz des Films “In the line of fire” mit Clint Eastwood ist der oben gezeigte Brunnen sowie der Fahrstuhl mit dem man selber hochfahren kann um von den oberen Etagen etwas den Ausblick zu geniessen. Auf dem Weg nach oben hat man einge gute Aussicht, da der Fahrstuhl aus Glas ist und Außen verlaeuft.
The above shown fountain and the elevator are the location where a scene from Clint Eastwood’s movie “In the line of fire” was shot. There is a plaque next to the elevator. You can take the elevator to enjoy a ride in the glassed elevator and to have a nice view from one of the upper floors.
