PARKEN am Hollywood Blvd
Sonntags ist wie überall das Parken (meter parking) an den Parkuhren kostenlos (bitte immer alle Hinweisschilder hierzu beachten. Man möchte ja nicht ein Ticket oder Abschleppen riskieren). Wenn man früh (vor 10 Uhr) hier antrifft, kann man noch gut Parkplätze auffinden. Auch das Fotografieren des Grauman’s Chinese Theatre und den Fuss-/Handabdrücken davor, ist dann noch ohne Anwesenheit von Touristen gut möglich. Sollte man an der Strasse nicht parken können, kann man in dem grossen Parkhaus an der Highland Ave. nördlich (links abgehend) vom Hollywood Blvd. Hier ist zu beachten, dass man gleich beim Abbiegen wieder links in das Parkhaus reinfahren muss. Der Eingang ist direkt hinter dem LUCKY STRIKE Bowling Center.

On Sundays it is still easier to park on the streets (read the signs). It is mostly for free. If you do not find anything or wanna park during the week, I personally park at the Highland Center (Hollywood Blvd./Highland Ave.). With validation you can park for 4 hours for only ca. $ 2 (please read info sign before entering the parking structure). Entrance is on Highland Ave. just after LUCKY STRIKE Bowling Center to your left if you are coming from Hollywood Blvd.
Mostly before 10 a.m. it is easier to find street parking. And you can also get a better chance to take pictures before other tourists show up.

Tipp: Meist sind die ersten paar Etagen voll. Sollte dies der Fall sein, so fahre ich stets bis nach unten auf P 4 und fahre gleich nach der Kurve zum naechsten Level einfach geradeaus weiter, sodass ich nahe an dem Eingang zu den Fahrstühlen und Rolltreppe parken kann.

Die Highlights befinden sich in 1. Linie zwischen N. Orange Drive & Highland Ave. welche sind Mann Chinese Theater, Kodak Theater, Roosevelt Hotel, Highland Center, Walk of Fame.

Blvd. Ecke La Brea Ave. und deren Seitenstrassen auf über 18 Blocks bis hin zur Gower Street. Der Walk of Fame wurde 1958 ins Leben gerufen und wurde in 1978 zum Kulturdenkmal.

The Walk of Fame offers more than 2400 stars (film, TV, radio, music, comedy). The Walk of Fame starts at the corner of Hollywood Blvd. and La Brea Ave.  The stars are going from Hollywood Blvd./La Brea Ave. in the West up to 18 blocks to Gower Street. The Walk of Fame was established in 1958 and became a cultural landmark in 1978.

Auf dem Boulevard gibt es einige Gift Shops. Ich denke nicht, dass die Billig-T-Shirts qualitativ okay sind.

Roosevelt Hotel        
7000 Hollywood Blvd. / at N. Orange Drive.

Gegruendet in 1927 durch Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Sid Grauman, und Louis B. Mayer. Hier wurden die Oscarverleihungen gehalten. Im “Blossom Room” wurden die allersten Academy Awards Verleihungen a. 19. Mai 1929 abgehalten. Das war die kuerzeste Zeremonie ueberhaupt, da Douglas Fairbanks und Al Jolson 13 Oscars innerhalb 5 Minuten vergeben haben.
Damals zahlten Clark Gable und Carole Lombard fuer ihr Penthouse im Hotel $ 5. Heute wuerde man fuer das gleiche Zimmer $ 3,500 zahlen.
Viele Stars gingen hier ein und aus. Viele uebernachteten hier, drehten Filme, besuchten das Restaurant “Cinegrill” etc.
Das Hotel soll auch heimgesucht werden von 2 Filmstars. Montgomery Clift soll in der 9. Etage (Zimmer Nr. 928) durch die Gaenge laufen und versuchen, den Text zum Film “From Here to Eternity” zu lernen.
Auch Marilyn Monroe soll man im Spiegel sehen welches in ihrem Zimmer nah des Pools hing. Nun haengt es neben dem Fahrstuhl im unteren Geschoss.

When Clark Gable and Carole Lombard stayed in the penthouse of the Roosevelt, it cost them just $5 a night - that same suite today would cost you $3,500.
A lot of stars used to stay overnight here, did a movie, visited the restaurant “Cinegrill” or did a photo shoot.
It is said that the Hollywood Roosevelt is haunted by to famous people. By the ghost of actor Montgomery Clift who is said to haunt the 9th floor (suite 928). He is wandering the floor trying to memorize his lines while making "From Here to Eternity."
Also Marilyn Monroe’s image is supposed to be seen in a full-length mirror which used to hang in her poolside suite. You can find this mirror now on the lower floor next to the elevator.

Grauman Mann’s Chinese Theatre       
In dem Chinese Theatre werden Filmpremieren praesentiert (2. Foto unten). Es werden rechts vom Eingang auch Touren des Theaters angeboten.
Movie premieres at this theatre every week (2 pic below). Right next to the entrance is a booth offering tour tickets to the theatre.

Vor dem Graumann Chinese Theatre befinden sich viele Schuh-/Handabdruecke von diversen Stars. Aber auch die kostuemierten “Stars” halten die Touristen bei guter Laune. Pro Kostuemierten muss man einen Dollar zahlen. Es ist ihnen verboten, Touristen zu einem Foto zu ueberreden. Dies kann ihre Lizenz kosten.
You will find loads of shoe and hand prints of different stars. But also the “stars” in costumes keep the tourists in a good mood. But you have to pay each costumend person one dollar. It is forbidden to force tourists to a picture. They could loose their license.

Yes, this is Jesus. If you see him, please don’t ask for a picture as he is NOT acting. He does not belong to the costumed people on Hollywood Blvd. He dresses like that daily. You can see him walking around like this everywhere.

Kodak Theatre             

befindet sich neben/im Highland Center. Das USD 75 Mio. teure Kodak Theatre wurde eigens für die Oscar Zeremonien gebaut und in 2001 eroeffnet. Das Theater was 3400 Sitzplaetze bietet, wird aber auch "zweckentfremdet" wie fuer Schoenheitswettbewerbe, Cheerleader-Tournaments, Emmy Preisverleihungen etc.
In dem Gebaeude selber befinden sich Shops und daneben ein Kino. Wenn man vor dem Kodak Theater steht findet man rechts im Inneren des Gebaeudes an der Wand den Stern vom Boxer ALI!
Kodak Theatre is located left of the Highland Center. The Theatre was built for the Oscar Ceremonies for USD 75 Mio and opened in 2001. The Theatre offers 3400 seats. But also other celebrations, shows and competitions are held here such as the Emmys, cheerleading and beauty competitions.
